In its mission to promote academic excellence and digital literacy, the May-Six Foundation proudly hosted the May-Six National Mathematics Challenge 2025 — a state-wide, computer-based competition designed to reward intelligence, encourage learning, and showcase innovation among secondary school students in Lagos State.
Competition Overview
Launched in April 2025, the competition drew participation from over 150 secondary schools across the Six Educational Districts in Lagos, with each school nominating three of their best mathematics students. This initiative reached 450 students, providing them a platform to compete in a transparent, technology-powered examination environment.
Celebrating Our Top Performers
The grand finale held on May 20th, 2025, at AHZ House, 56 Opebi Road, Ikeja, was a moment of pride and prestige. After three rigorous stages of testing, the top students emerged, and the May-Six Foundation awarded the following:
- Third Place Winner: ₦500,000
- Second Place Winner: ₦1,000,000 and a brand-new tablet
Meet the Champion
Oluwaferanmi Olabiyi, representing Agbowa Community Senior Grammar School, Epe, earned the first-place grand prize of ₦1,500,000 and a brand-new laptop. His outstanding performance captivated the audience and set a new benchmark for academic excellence.
Structure and Innovation
The competition was powered by ePaq, a secure and intelligent computer-based examination platform. With video and audio surveillance features enabled, integrity and fairness were top priorities throughout all stages.
Competition Phases
- Stage 1: Featured all registered schools, each fielding three students.
- Stage 2: Selected top scorers from each LCDA based on merit.
- Final Stage: Culminated in a live, monitored exam at the grand venue, followed by the awards ceremony.
Special Recognition & Rewards
- Students who scored 70% and above in the first stage, but did not advance, received ₦10,000 each as a token of encouragement.
- Students with the highest scores in their LCDA, regardless of advancement, were awarded ₦200,000 each for their brilliance and hard work.
All disbursements and gifts were fully funded by the May-Six Foundation, showcasing the organization’s unwavering dedication to rewarding diligence and talent.
